Each Saturday AYH will take over the space at Sockdolager's and invade their spotify with a teachers choice music themed yoga class. So with that in mind, a sense of letting go, having fun with movement and motion is the intention. Bring a yoga mat (we will have some props if needed) and you must be able to get up and down from the floor. This class can be for beginners but we will be moving, stretching and relaxing, so bring a sense of inquiry and fun. Commemorate the 59 delegates who met on March 2, 1836 to make a formal declaration of independence from Mexico. This Texas Independence Day celebration consists of a flag raising ceremony by the Dyess Honor Guard, Pledge of Allegiance by Baird Elementary students, singing of Texas our Texas by Stamford Elementary students, a special appearance by Texas State Representative, Stan Lambert, a reading from the Texas Declaration of Independence, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the signing of the 'World's Largest Copy' of the Texas Declaration of Independence,' by the Abilene Chamber of Commerce Redcoats. There will also be FREE admission to all museum exhibits ALL day!

This developmental program introduces the game of volleyball to both boys and girls. Within this program, players will begin to learn the basic skills of the game while also building character and leadership skills. Parents must be fully dedicated and actively involved in this program with their child.  Age appropriate games and activities will be utilized to allow for a fun environment in which the fundamental skills of the sport are presented.  Parents are expected to be involved and engaged in every training session at the facility as well as the home training portion which involves both physical and skill-based activities.  (If a parent can’t be present then it can be any adult figure in their life. If that is not possible, then the parents can notify AYSA and they will provide adult mentors to be the ones to work with their child during these sessions.) Boys and Girls K-3rd Grade. Program is on Monday nights.

This league will focus on developing the all-around team player. The Youth League is for players who are looking for a place to strengthen their skills and become a strong all-around team leader.  All skill levels are welcome, from beginner to advanced. The athletes will go through an 'evaluation' session on the first night of practices, and based on the evaluation, players will be placed into teams by grade and skill level. Every week players will have two days to participate with their team, one of the days will be practice and the other will be 4 v 4, 5 v 5 or 6 v 6 competition play. From the Gibson Girl to the Flapper, women's fashion evolution from the early 1900s to the 1920s in the United States was due to new economic and social factors for women. These three decades were a defining time as many women fought for the right to vote, joined the work force during World War I, and changed the traditional social norms for women from the previous century.

Come hear Dr. Gary Goodnight present a unique perspective on portraiture. Not only does Dr. Goodnight practice Otolaryngology (ENT) / Otolaryngic Allergy, General Otolaryngology/ENT, he is also an accomplished painter. As an Otolaryngologist, the understanding of the relationships in the anatomy of the head and neck is vital for patient care. These same anatomical relationships are important for the portrait or figure artist. Their basic understanding allows the artist to capture structure, planes and likeness. Following the talk, artist Mike Lanier will present an oil portrait painting demonstration - from beginning to glazing using examples of his own work. Mike Lanier is a realistic painter known for his dramatic use of light and color. His work is included in many private collections and galleries throughout the area. Mike works mainly in oil and acrylic. Mike’s studies in Fine Art, Art History, Illustration and Commercial Art in college, helped In combining his passion for Art. Mike has received numerous awards in Regional and National competitions.
