Overview
Residents of heaven are citizens of Abilene. Abilene is our place, but it is not our home. We taste and smell heaven with our feet in mud and our hands on wooden plows, and this is not an easy thing. We live in two worlds, we sing songs of sorrow and joy, and we praise the Lord our God, the Maker of heaven and earth. The evening’s performing guests are: Lotus Saxophone Quartet, an internationally acclaimed musical ensemble that emphasizes the art of storytelling through compelling repertoire; Aaron Cherry has shared his story internationally-singing his song-a simple and compelling story like a nation’s deliverance from bondage; The Light Parade, formed in Abilene, Texas, is an acoustic folk duo featuring Alex Howard and Kara Zimmerman, whose trademark harmonies, insightful lyrics, and beautiful arrangements draw audiences around the world; The Three Tenors featuring Samuel Cook, Steven Moore, and Odies Wright, are three lifelong friends and singers that harmonize beautifully, blending seamlessly their tenor voices for a captivating and incredible performance; The Mercer Sisters, featuring Molly, Carrie, and Audrey Mercer, three home-grown girls that have inspired audiences with their songbird voices for a decade on stages throughout the state of Texas; John McCord, a man in pursuit of what is good, beautiful and true; singing songs and telling stories that speak to the wounds of deep hurt and the healing of great hope; Kurt Boyland, a man whose heart overflows with a good theme from the Lord’s goodness and loving kindness.
