Come out and join City of Abilene Parks and Community Services, Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, Keep Abilene Beautiful, Big Country Master Naturalists, Abilene Zoo, SUP Abilene, and others for a day of outdoor fun! Abilene Outdoor Adventures is an educational event for citizens of Abilene and surrounding areas to learn about outdoor recreation opportunities, environmental conservation, and environmental stewardship. Various activities such as archery, wildlife identification, plant identification, pollinators activity, Neighborhood Fishin’ Program (www.neighborhoodfishin.org) fishing education and catfish fishing derby, a Trash to Treasure and trash clean-up with Don’t Mess With Texas and Keep Abilene Beautiful, and more will be provided. Also, Abilene Zoo will be hosting its World Oceans’ Day in conjunction with Abilene Outdoor Adventures where people can learn about of the world’s seas and oceans and proper stewardship for fisheries, wildlife, and their habitat. All activities for Abilene Outdoor Adventures will be free and open to the public. Zoo regular admission fees are still applicable for zoo entry, but participation in World Oceans Day activities are free.

In partnership with the Abilene International Rescue Committee and the West Texas Triangle, a presentation of this site-specific installation by Texas-based, international artists Roger Colombik and wife, Jerolyn Bahm-Colombik will focus on the newest members of the Abilene community, many of whom are refugees and asylees finding home far from their native land of origin. The Colombiks have created similar projects in Armenia, Macedonia, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Ukraine and others.

Mark Teague likes to find humor in the everyday events of childhood. Having never taken an art class in his life, through trial, error, talent, and a love for drawing, Mark Teague has become one of today's top illustrators for children.
