Co-Ed Volleyball: Everything You Need to Know

Get ready to spike, set, and score at Corporate Olympics Co-Ed Volleyball (sponsored by Clark Nissan and Hall Air Conditioning) held at the Dodge Jones Youth Sports Center on Saturday, October 7th. Before you jump in, let's go through the essential information, guidelines, and rules you need to be aware of. This article will help you prepare for an engaging and enjoyable sports experience.
Team Composition and Gender Specifications
- Minimum of 6 players per team
- A minimum of 2 females must be on the court at all times
Match Structure
- Matches consist of best 2 out of 3 sets.
- Each set is played to 25 points with the exception of the 3rd set, which is played to 15 points.
- Teams must win by 2 points, with a cap of 30 points for all sets.
Position Rotation Rules
- Rotation is required and should be done in a clockwise direction on each serve.
- The "out of rotation" rule is waived as long as the clockwise movement is maintained.
Pool Play and Bracket Play Rules
- Pool Play consists of 2 sets to 25 points, starting at 4 to 4 (with a win by 2 points and a cap of 30 points).
- Bracket Play consists of 2 sets to 25, also starting 4 to 4, and a 3rd starting at 0 to 0 and playing to 15 points (with a win by 2, capped at 30 points for the first two sets and 20 points for the final set.)
- Teams must win by 2 points in each set.
- Pool Play has 3-4 team pools with 2-3 matches in each pool.
- Bracket Play is a single-elimination tournament seeded by Pool Play results. Seeding methodology depends on the number of participating teams.
Awards and Points
- Points are awarded for 1st to 10th place, with 10 points going to the winner and 1 point to the 10th place team.
- A 2X multiplier applies to all points.
Referees and Tournament Assistance
- One UP referee will be provided for each match.
- Teams are expected to work matches when they are off, providing 2 line judges and 1 down referee for other matches.
Timeouts
- Each team can utilize 2 timeouts per set.
