Overview
Abilene is home to multiple storybook gardens around downtown. Everman Park is filled with bronze sculptures of Dr. Seuss characters. The Adamson-Spalding Storybook Garden opened in 2017 on the south side lawn of the Abilene Convention Center and is home to beloved characters such as Wilbur the pig and Stuart Little. The Clear Fork Bank Storybook Garden opened in 2025 on the other side of the lawn on the south side of the Convention Center and is home to Winnie-the-Pooh and friends in the Hundred Acre Woods as well as other iconic children’s book characters. These gardens and the sculptures in them were made possible by grants from the Texas Commission on the Arts and many generous donors.
